You Bette She's Great!
Las Vegas is one of those rare places where you not only have access to great entertainment, but you can also get really good seats and get up close and personal with some of the world's top acts. Where else in the world can you go and see Elton John almost any night of the week? Or Cher? Or Celine Dion? Or even Carrot Top, assuming all the other shows are closed that night.

I recently had such an experience with the Divine Miss M., Bette Midler. Bette is one of those timeless entertainers who you can really tell loves what she does. Her face is beaming from the moment she hits the stage, and her "People's Diva" persona almost comes off as believable. 

Bette looks as good today as she ever has, and her energy on the stage is envious. Though she clearly cannot keep up with her young dancers, The Caesar’s Salad Girls, Bette gives it her best shot and does not disappoint. Her voice shows a bit of tenure on the high notes, but elsewhere she is as strong and moving as ever.

Those who remember Bette's Sophie Tucker persona will not be disappointed. Bette not only performs a segment of the show in the persona, it seems to show up elsewhere in the evening as well. Sometimes I think Bette has modeled much of herself after Sophie, and shares the same presence and energetic as the famous entertainer, At a time in the early part of the last century, Sophie Tucker was one of the most popular entertainers in America.

And of course Bette pays tribute to Delores Delago, the schmaltzy lounge singer whose presence is the perfect reflection of 70s Disco Tacky, or, how to have fun in Wheelchairs.

Fans of the Divine Miss M will enjoy hearing her songs, and many will be reminded of songs they had no idea were performed by her. Bette has amassed quite a library of hits over the years, and there are few times you will not recognize a song. Her styles are varied, but always sincere. Bette is a one of a kind entertainer. We highly recommend this show!
